Winfield Street Italian Deli is the kind of place where you know you are in the right place as soon as you walk in. The back of the counter is piled with imported olive oil and pickled peppers, and the window is stuffed with layers of Prosciutto and Salami. The master cuts the meat more quickly than cooking pasta. The signature sandwich is hot-pressed, with the bread pressed until it is slightly crispy, with freshly cut cold-cut meat and melted provolone, and there is a bit of yellow mustard acid when bitten down. Suitable for those who want a full, non-frills Italian sandwich at noon and pick up a can of Marinara home.
